The Sociology & Anthropology department at the University of Puget Sound provides students with an opportunity to explore a wide range of social and cultural topics in an international context. Our students master the methods and concepts they need to find meaningful work in a variety of different venues, with a strong focus on original research, social justice, and global settings. Many of the students in the department spend a semester of their Junior year abroad, and often do so in less-developed countries. Finally, we also require that our students spend significant time at the University of Puget Sound conducting qualitative and quantitative socio-cultural research, both in our methods courses, and through a substantive and independently-researched thesis.
